Summary: Snape quits.
A/N: I wrote this for someone on my lj flist who requested drabbles about quitting a job. I don't remember whom I wrote it for - so if it was for you, please let me know and I'll add the info. Thanks!
"That's it", Snape sighed. "I've had it."
The seventh year Gryffindors and Slytherins looked up from their cauldrons.
"P-professor?" Only Malfoy dared raise his voice. They'd never heard that note in their teacher's words before.
As if having been redeemed hadn't been enough. As if having had to return hadn't been enough.
"Enough."
Snape extinguished the flame beneath his cauldron and walked towards the door.
"But you can't-"
"Oh yes, Mr Potter, I can." The door closed behind him.
"How are we supposed to..."
Potter's voice faded into a silence that seemed to be all Snape had left them with.
